SKILLS CENTRES
Our Skills Centre program aligns with NZ Football and is specifically designed with the 'future' footballer in mind. Underpinned by research into best practice around the world, our Skills Centre programs follow a player centred coaching approach meaning every player is treated as an individual with a focus on skill acquisition at a crucial age in player development.
OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES
Alongside the four corner development model that helps to develop people as well as footballers, Northland FC is guided by the following principles when it comes to junior football to ensure appropriate training environments exist for holistic player development within our programs:
GAME RELATED TRAINING
Training should involve all four moments and place players in scenarios they will face in a game.
TIME ON THE BALL
Lots of opportunity to develop game skills and master the ball both as part of a team and as individuals.
ENJOYABLE ENVIRONMENTS
Enjoyable, stimulating and interesting environments to aid learning and development.
FULL ENGAGEMENT
Ensure players are challenged and are learning throughout to maximise development opportunities.
EFFECTIVE FEEDBACK
Informed feedback, relevant to tasks performed and the objectives of the practices using a growth mindset.
